What a sales one-pager needs

The sales type has five sections, and every one of them is required: a sales page without proof or without an offer reads as unfinished. The offer and the next step sit in the side column of the wireframe, and in the template's sidebar layout they fill the colored column, where the eye goes after the headline.

Title Tagline: who it is for and what they get The problem The outcome Proof The offer Next step
The problem
What the prospect is losing today, in time, money or nerves, said the way they would say it on a call. Two or three lines.
The outcome
What changes once they buy. Lead with the result and let the features follow in a short list.
Proof
The evidence that you deliver: a customer quote used with permission, or a result with a real figure and its date. Required, because a sales page without proof is a claim.
The offer (sidebar)
Exactly what they get and on what terms: a package, a trial, a price, a minimum order. Plain enough to quote back to you.
Next step (sidebar)
One action with one contact: book a demo, reply to this email, call this number.

Sales one-pager or sell sheet?

"Sell sheet" usually means a product page for retail or wholesale buyers, the people deciding whether to stock you. It shows the product, its key benefits and the item details a buyer needs to place an order:

  • sizes, flavors or variants, and the case pack
  • the wholesale price and the suggested retail price
  • the minimum order and lead time
  • how to order, and who to call

"Sales one-pager" more often means a page for a business-to-business offer or a service. The same five sections cover both; a sell sheet simply puts the ordering details inside The offer. The hot sauce sell sheet among the one pager examples shows how that looks. When the page is about one product's features and specs rather than an order, a product one pager fits better.

Headline and proof lines you can adapt

Headlines

  • [Outcome] for [who], without [pain].
  • [Do the job] in [a time frame you can stand behind].
  • [Who] use [product] to [outcome].

Proof

  • A named customer's quote, used with their permission.
  • A result with a real figure and its date: [result] for [customer] in [month and year].
  • A customer count, only when it is real and current.
  • Customer logos, only with each customer's permission.

Test a headline by reading it to someone outside your company. If they cannot say who it is for and what changes for them, rewrite it before you touch the design.

Never a made-up number. A prospect who checks one figure and finds it inflated stops believing the rest of the page, and the bracket you leave in place until the real figure arrives costs you nothing.

Match the page to the sales stage

  • First contact. Lead with the problem and the outcome, and keep it short. The goal is a reply, not a decision.
  • After a demo. Move proof and the offer up, with pricing if it is fixed. The prospect already knows the problem; now they are comparing.
  • For a champion to forward. Write the business case in their boss's terms (cost, risk, time) and end with one next step the boss can take.

For a general introduction to your business instead of one offer, send a company one pager.

Print it or send it

Email it as a PDF, so the layout survives every inbox. On an office printer, Letter or A4 needs no bleed: the half-inch margins keep everything clear of the edge the printer cannot reach. For a professional print run, ask the print shop about bleed and trim before you send the file, because their requirements decide whether a color band can run to the edge. Keep an editable Word or PowerPoint copy for each customer segment, so a new version is a quick edit rather than a redesign. At a trade show, carry printed copies and keep the PDF on your phone for anyone who would rather have it by email.

A filled example

Tallyhouse Invoicing, a made-up software company, names its reader and their pain in the tagline, keeps both proof lines in brackets until a customer agrees to be quoted, and ends with a single next step: a short demo.

  • Invoices from your own template
  • Reminders before and after the due date
  • Clients pay by card in one click

Proof

From freelancers who switched:

  • [customer quote, with permission]

Next step

Book a short demo at [website] and send your first invoice the same day.

Questions

What is a sales one pager?

A sales one pager is a single page that makes the case for one offer to a prospect: the problem they have, the outcome you deliver, proof that you deliver it, what you are offering and the next step. Sales teams send it after a first call, attach it to emails or leave it behind after a meeting.

What is a sell sheet?

A sell sheet is a one-page summary of a product written for buyers, especially retail and wholesale buyers. It usually shows the product, its key benefits, item details such as sizes or case packs, wholesale and suggested retail prices, minimum order and how to order. Many brands bring sell sheets to trade shows and buyer meetings.

What is the difference between a sell sheet and a one pager?

A one pager can be about anything: a company, a startup, a project or a product. A sell sheet is a one pager with one job, selling a product, usually to a buyer who will stock or resell it, so it carries ordering details that other one-pagers leave out. In practice many people use the names loosely.

How do you write a sales one pager for B2B software?

Lead with the problem in your buyer's words and the outcome they get, not your feature list. Back it with one or two pieces of real proof, such as a named customer quote used with permission or a result with a figure, state the offer plainly, and end with one next step, such as booking a demo.

Can I use customer quotes and logos on a sales one pager?

Only with the customer's permission, ideally in writing, and only quotes they actually said or approved. Logos are trademarks, so ask before using one, even for a happy customer. Until you have permission, leave the proof box as a placeholder or use a result you can state without naming anyone.

What is a case study one pager?

It tells one customer's story on a single page: who they are, the problem they had, what they did with your product or service, and the result, ideally with a figure they agreed to share and a short quote. It works as proof after a first call and pairs well with a sales one pager.

Is there a free sales one pager template?

Yes. The template above downloads free as Word, PowerPoint and PDF, with the five sales sections laid out and bracketed prompts where your details go. You can also fill it in with the maker, pick a layout and color, and download it finished, all without signing up.
